The first two illustrations are the front and rear elevations of a 3000 Hp DC motor. The front elevation indicates where the gear box is to be connected to the main drive motor. The rear elevation and commutator can be seen minus the brush gear. At this stage in the installation the whole of the main drive is protected by a plastic cover to avoid any contamination . This motor forms part of a large rolling mill dismantled from a site in Falkirk Scotland to be transported down to the West Midlands for re – installation.
The third illustration indicates the out put side of the main transformers feeding the DC control panels. These supply cables being 630 mm Sq single core aluminium with hydraulically crimped terminations, all cables being secured to the floor via spacer brackets. On completion of this section of the project a steel checker plate will be installed to the steel base frame work to protect the cable installation.
